  11. What Does It Do?
  12. ----------------
  13. When an alias is selected in the Finder typing hot key Command-" while in the Finder
  14. it finds the original file and opens the Finder window that contains the file.
  15. It actually launches the AppleScript file "Find Original from Alias".

  17. What Hardware and Software Do I Need?
  18. -------------------------------------
  19. Hardware: PowerPC
  20. Software: System 7 or greater, Code Fragment manger, Apple Script manager,
  21.     the Apple Script file "Find Original from Alias".

  23. How Do I Install It?
  24. --------------------
  25. 1) Copy the file "FindOriginal INIT" to your "Extensions" folder in your System Folder.
  26. 2) Make an alias to your "Find Original from Alias" AppleScript file
  27.     ( It comes with System 7.5 or greater ).
  28. 3) Rename the alias you just created to "FindOriginal".
  29. 4) Put the "FindOriginal" alias in your "Extensions" folder.
  30. 5) Reboot your Macintosh.

  34. This requires a PowerPC only because I didn't have a need to.
  35. It wouldn't be that hard to make a 68K version.
  36. If anyone's interested email me and say:
  37. "Hey I want a 68K FindOriginal INIT"

  39. I also considered allowning the user to change what key invokes the script.
  40. Also cool would be launching other applications from hot keys.
  41. For example, Think Reference or QuickView from MPW.
  42. But then QuickKeys already exists.  If anyone has a specific request
  43. I might consider it.
